I'll try to address common queries that many coming to Cranfield this September have asked me.
1) Think really hard about what you want to do after the MBA. Prepare your CV. This is the most important.
2) If you dont have a Finance background, pick up a decent Finance book and start learning basic accounting. It will help you big time.
3) Think about people around you - parents, wife, kids, etc. Sort out their jobs, school, etc. as soon as possible. Also, set expectations straight. You will not have too much time for them for a year. There will be compromises and they should be mentally prepared for it.
4) Dont burn bridges...Work sincerely till your last day and come to the MBA with as many doors as possible open ( i know most with a Cranfield admit would be really dragging themselves to the office. Try not to get into that trap)
5) UK Student Visa should be straight forward as long as you provide all the documents right.
6) For those looking at loans, you may feel HSBC is a bit slow. But remember there are atleast 100 others who are pushing the same people in there. Relax...It will take time, but should not be a problem (in most cases).
7) For Indians - you will get almost all Indian cooking items in Milton Keynes or Bedford (approx. 10 miles from campus). Basic stuff is available within the campus store.
8) UK is a beautiful country. Get a good camera if you dont have one already - you'll need it.
9) Sort out your accomodation fast. On-campus is the best. If you cant get on-campus accomodation seriously consider buying a car.
10) Finally, relax and enjoy the last few days that you have before embarking on the MBA.
Hope this helps.
