A lot of MBA aspirants have asked this question on placements for MBA's in UK and Cranfield in particular. I hope to address some of your issues here.
First the bad news:
Recruitment scene in UK - It is a tough market right now. With the credit crunch, most banks have been laying off people and this tends to have an effect on recruitment across all sectors, as most businesses in and around London rely heavily, directly or indirectly, on the financial services sector.
Something for Indian MBA aspirants - If you are looking at 100% campus placements in day 0 or 1 like in India and you expect companies to reach out to you while you are in campus (and probably wow you with their presentation, offer, food, freebies....), please dont come here. You will be disappointed.
Now the good news:
Getting a job: There is always 1 extra seat for a worthy candidate in any good organisation. It always holds true. So, if you have the right skills n attitude, you will get a job. But one has to be proactive to land that dream job. Networking is the key.
Placements @ Cranfield: It is looking good till now. We have companies coming in every Tuesday (and sometimes Thursdays as well). Some interesting roles have been offered and we have had a good mix of companies. Some companies that have presented in campus this year - Deloitte, AT Kearney, Johnson & Johnson, Total, Nike, AD Little, Wipro. Companies visiting in the next 1 month - Rolls Royce, Philips, Apple, Satyam, Vodafone, Shell, Microsoft, PwC...
Bottomline: If you believe that you have it in you to make it into an organisation of your choice, you will get there. Cranfield will ensure that you get to talk to some of the best companies. But in the end, it is what you are which will get you a job.
Finally, MBA is not just about the next job. It is more about how you change for the better.

Ashok- Thanks for the nice information.
Being an MBA aspirant,I have couple of questions.I'd appreciate if you can answer them to the best of your knowledge and experience.
-Is Cranfield good for finance? How is Cranfield brand viewed in the investment banking sector?
-I understand that "networking" is the key to get a decent job but can career development guys put you in touch with the companies which might not be visiting Cranfield campus?
-I have heard that it is very difficult to change your "industry" even after an MBA(talking of 1 year MBA). How true is it?
